On April 11, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Columbia Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 3300 block of Premier Lane in northeast Columbia, Missouri. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Derek Silvey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical assistance, Silvey was pronounced dead at the scene.
