On June 21, 2024, at approximately 1 p.m., Kansas City police responded to a 911 call near East 84th Street and Wabash Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were directed to an area of overgrown brush where they discovered 48-year-old Larry D. Boyd unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
