In the summer of 2024, the life of 42-year-old Linard Thomas was tragically cut short in a shooting in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The incident, which occurred on July 14, unfolded inside a vacant storefront at 417 Broadway that was reportedly being operated as an unlicensed club. Thomas was a Black male.
Early in the morning, Thomas’s wife, Alicia, received a devastating phone call informing her that her husband had been shot.
Rushing to the hospital, she was met by police who delivered the heartbreaking news that he had not survived his injuries. The family, including his mother and son, was left shattered by the sudden and violent loss, pleading for answers and justice.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Cape Girardeau Police Department activated the Major Case Squad to spearhead the homicide investigation. Authorities confirmed that the location of the shooting was not a licensed business. As of now, details regarding a motive for the shooting remain scarce, and law enforcement has not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case.
