On August 3, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m., St. Louis police responded to a shooting near North Vandeventer and Maffitt avenues in the Greater Ville neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old D'Angelo Caldwell, of the 4700 block of Highland Avenue, lying unconscious on the sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at the scene.
During the investigation, authorities recovered ballistic evidence and a firearm from the scene.
