On August 20, 2024, law enforcement officials in St. Louis County, Missouri, began investigating the fatal shooting of 16-year-old male Amorion Fuller. Police officers from the South County Precinct were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Goetz Avenue in the Lemay area around 12:50 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered the teenager suffering from gunshot wounds to the neck.
Despite emergency efforts, Fuller was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities initially labeled the death as suspicious, and the St. Louis County Medical Examiner subsequently ruled the case a homicide, determining that the wounds were not self-inflicted.
The investigation revealed that the violence stemmed from a disagreement during a sleepover involving the victim and two friends. Detectives learned that Fuller and 16-year-old Derion Davis had spent the previous night at the Goetz Avenue home. The following morning, an argument reportedly erupted between the two teenagers regarding pizza and vape pens. According to court documents, the dispute escalated when Davis acquired two firearms, one of which belonged to the victim. Police stated that as Fuller stepped toward his friend, Davis fired both weapons simultaneously, striking Fuller. After the shooting, the third individual present at the home left to seek help from a neighbor, who then contacted the authorities.
Following the incident, investigators executed search warrants on the suspect's social media accounts, uncovering search history related to disabling an Instagram account and inquiries about whether federal authorities could apprehend a juvenile. Davis was taken into custody in September 2024 and initially referred to the St. Louis County Family Court. A year later, in September 2025, a judge certified Davis, then 17, to be tried as an adult. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. In the ruling to transfer the case from juvenile court, the judge cited a pattern of escalating offenses and previous failures to comply with probation sentences, describing the nature of the shooting as involving a complete disregard for human life.
