On the evening of January 1, 2024, Keith Usery, a 44-year-old Black man, was found shot to death inside his home in Dellwood, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. Officers with the North County Police Cooperative were dispatched to his residence on South Schlueter Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. after receiving a call about a person being shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Usery had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Born on October 8, 1979, in Berkeley, Missouri, Keith Usery was a father of two who was remembered for his kind heart and dedication to others. After graduating from McClure Senior High School in 1998, he briefly pursued an interest in acting before finding his calling in the healthcare field, where he was recognized with a Distinguished Caregiver Award in 2017. His family described him as a selfless individual with a calming presence and a smile that could light up a room.
In the wake of the shooting, the North County Police Cooperative requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis to lead the homicide investigation. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the murder of Keith Usery. The investigation remains active, and officials have urged anyone with information to contact the North County Police Cooperative or CrimeStoppers.
