The fatal shooting occurred in the 1500 block of Ben McLemore III Place, where responding officers discovered his body.
Wright's death was quickly ruled a homicide, prompting the North County Police Cooperative to request
the assistance of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis in the investigation. Known in the boxing world for his achievements, which included winning the National Gold Gloves Boxing Championship in 1995, Wright was a well-regarded figure in his community. His sudden and violent death sent shockwaves through his family and the local boxing scene. Remembered as a devoted father to his three children, his loss was deeply felt by those who knew him.
