On September 28, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., St. Louis police responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Ponce Avenue in the Baden neighborhood of north St. Louis. Upon arrival, officers found 27-year-old Elliott Smith Jr., who had sustained gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
