In a tragic turn of events in Douglasville, Georgia, 14-year-old Kyra Nevaeh Scott was fatally shot on a Saturday afternoon. The incident unfolded outside her home when her 13-year-old brother, Wilson Scott, was involved in the sale of a homemade firearm. The supposed buyer, 19-year-old Yusef Jabryil McArthur, also identified as Yusef McArthur El, allegedly decided to steal the weapon instead of paying for it.
As McArthur fled the scene with the stolen gun, Kyra's younger brother discharged another firearm in an attempt to stop him. Tragically, the bullet struck Kyra. In a frantic effort to save her, family members attempted to rush her to a nearby hospital. Their journey was cut short at a local gas station, where the young girl succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into Kyra's death revealed that her 13-year-old brother had been assembling and selling firearms, known as 'ghost guns' because they are untraceable. Authorities subsequently arrested both Wilson Scott and Yusef McArthur. The younger Scott was charged with felony murder. McArthur faced charges of both robbery and felony murder. Though he is a minor, the decision was made to charge Kyra's brother as an adult. Both he and McArthur were denied bond following their initial court appearance. Wilson Scott was placed in a youth detention center, while McArthur was held at the Douglas County jail. Authorities also indicated they were searching for a third individual believed to have been involved in the robbery and shooting.
