On the morning of October 13, 2024, a violent disturbance erupted in downtown Springfield, Missouri, claiming the life of 18-year-old Klayton Allen Hagan. The incident unfolded in the early hours, prompting a police response to the Heer’s Parking Garage located at 230 North Campbell Avenue. At approximately 2:12 a.m., officers arrived at the scene following reports of a shooting involving multiple individuals.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a chaotic scene that had spilled
out into the surrounding streets. Officers located a vehicle at the intersection of McDaniel Street and Campbell Avenue containing two men suffering from gunshot wounds. A third man, also wounded by gunfire, was found nearby at the intersection of Olive Street and Campbell Avenue. Emergency responders transported all three victims to local hospitals for urgent medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, Klayton Hagan succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Springfield Police Department Homicide Detectives launched an investigation and successfully identified and located all parties believed to be involved in the altercation. As of the initial reports following the incident, authorities stated that no arrests had been made, noting that the investigation was ongoing. The findings were set to be forwarded to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if criminal charges would be filed against any of the individuals involved.
