On October 13, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Kansas City police responded to reports of a shooting at a convenience store parking lot near East 35th Street and Cleveland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old DeAnthony Guthrie suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Guthrie was pronounced dead at the scene.
