Nicholas Edwards, an 18-year-old recent graduate of East Orange Campus High School, was fatally shot on July 3, 2023, in East Orange, New Jersey. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. as Edwards was driving on Ashland Avenue. He sustained a gunshot wound, causing him to lose control of his vehicle, which then collided with parked cars and caught fire. Friends accompanying him in another car transported him to CareWell Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:05 p.m.
