On a Tuesday afternoon, the life of 31-year-old Stefan Shaw of Maple Shade was tragically cut short. On July 18, 2023, at approximately 4:07 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the air in the area of 27th and Federal Streets in Camden, New Jersey. Officers from the Camden County Police Department, who were nearby and heard the shots, responded to the scene. There, they discovered a vehicle that had been struck by bullets and found Stefan Shaw inside, suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to Cooper University Hospital for medical attention, but he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation into the fatal shooting led detectives to identify a suspect. Later that same day, authorities located 23-year-old Myles Nicholson of Philadelphia in New Castle County, Delaware. Information had been received that a suspect and a vehicle related to the homicide were at an apartment complex in Prices Corner. Before officers arrived, the vehicle left and traveled toward Kirkwood Highway, eventually stopping at a local gas station. As Nicholson exited the vehicle and tried to enter the station, officers, with assistance from the Elsmere Police Department, took him into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, Myles Nicholson was charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses in connection with the death of Stefan Shaw. He was transported to a local jail in Delaware to await an extradition hearing to face the charges against him in New Jersey.
