In the early morning hours of July 22, 2023, the life of 32-year-old Carlos Ariel Zayas was tragically cut short. At approximately 3:16 a.m., Newark police were dispatched to the 600 block of Broadway in the city's North Ward following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Zayas outside a nightclub, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to University Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at 3:51 a.m.
