In the early morning hours of October 28, 2023, tragedy struck in Passaic, New Jersey, when 25-year-old Edgar Guillen was found with gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at the intersection of Harrison Street and Hope Avenue. Police responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 3:16 a.m. and discovered two victims at the scene.
Edgar Guillen, a resident of Passaic, was pronounced deceased at the location of the shooting.
The second victim, 18-year-old Kyle Schneider, also from Passaic, was transported to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson for treatment. Sadly, Schneider succumbed to his injuries and passed away on November 1.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and the Passaic Police Department are jointly investigating the case as a double homicide. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward to assist with their active and ongoing investigation. At this time, no information regarding any arrests or potential suspects has been released to the public. The community has been left in mourning as law enforcement continues to seek justice for the two young men whose lives were cut short.
