Jose Garcia-Roldan, a 23-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot on May 29, 2015, in Salem, Oregon. The incident was investigated by the Marion County Sheriff's Office as a gang-related shooting. Garcia-Roldan was transported to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, authorities identified Robert Gordon Davis, 32, of Seaside, as the suspect in the shooting. In July 2015, Davis was arrested on a warrant in Clatsop County.
He had a criminal history that included convictions for unlawful use of a weapon, assault, menacing, criminal trespass, resisting arrest, strangulation, and theft.
In April 2016, Robert Gordon Davis pleaded guilty to murder, reckless endangerment, and unlawful possession of a firearm for the death of Jose Garcia-Roldan. As a result of his guilty plea, he faced a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.
