In the early hours of August 4, 2019, the quiet of Englewood Park in Northeast Salem, Oregon, was shattered by gunfire. When Salem police officers arrived at the scene around 12:48 a.m., they discovered a gravely wounded 16-year-old male, Ishaq Saleem. He was rushed to a local hospital, but the medical staff's efforts were in vain, and he succumbed to his injuries. A student at McNary High School and a resident of the neighboring city of Keizer, Ishaq's life was cut tragically short.
