A holiday morning was shattered by violence in an Elizabeth, New Jersey, apartment complex, leaving a young woman dead and a community in shock. In the pre-dawn hours of Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023, the life of 30-year-old Victoria Myers was tragically cut short. Police were called to the Mravlag Manor apartments with reports of a shooting. Inside one of the residences, they discovered Myers, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the arrival of first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was made all the more harrowing by the fact that her young children were present at the time of the shooting, though they were physically unharmed.
The investigation quickly zeroed in on a suspect: 30-year-old Gerard Manning, also a resident of Elizabeth. Authorities identified him as the individual who had entered Myers's apartment and opened fire, fatally wounding her.
