On July 1, 2016, the body of 18-year-old Austin G. Baxley was discovered on Crawford Road in Yorktown, Virginia. Baxley, a resident of Portsmouth, was found with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The discovery was made early in the morning when a passerby reported seeing a body on the side of the road. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office quickly initiated a homicide investigation, actively pursuing leads to uncover the circumstances surrounding Baxley's death.
