In the winter of 2023, the life of 18-year-old Angel Regalado Guzman was cut short in Jersey City, New Jersey. On the afternoon of Monday, December 18th, a private vehicle rushed him to the Jersey City Medical Center. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Shortly after his arrival at approximately 2:20 p.m., the vehicle that brought him to the hospital departed, leaving the circumstances of the young man's injuries a mystery.
Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly before 4:00 p.m.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office and the Jersey City Police Department launched an investigation into the death, which was quickly ruled a homicide by the Regional Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators were able to trace the tragic event back to a residence on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City, where the fatal shooting had occurred. The investigation into the events that transpired at the residence moved forward, seeking to piece together the moments that led to the teenager's demise.
Within ten days of the fatal shooting, authorities made an arrest. On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, a 17-year-old male from Jersey City was taken into custody in connection with the death of Angel Regalado Guzman. The juvenile suspect faces serious charges, including aggravated manslaughter, a first-degree crime, as well as two second-degree weapons offenses: possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Due to the suspect's age, his identity and further details about the case remain confidential under juvenile justice laws. The charges against the teenager are accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
