On the night of January 5, 2024, a 14-year-old male from Atlantic City, identified as F.G., was fatally wounded in a shooting. The incident occurred at approximately 10:48 p.m. on the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue, where a disturbance involving several young people had been reported. Some sources indicated that the juveniles were attending a party at an Airbnb at the time of the shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered two gunshot victims.
F.G. was found in the roadway with a severe gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries the following day, on January 6, 2024, at 3:27 p.m. The cause of his death was later determined to be a homicide resulting from multiple gunshot wounds. A second victim, a 16-year-old male identified as A.C., was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his leg.
He was also taken to the hospital, where he was treated and subsequently released.
The investigation into the shooting was conducted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit. Their investigation led to the arrests of two suspects on January 9, 2024. The suspects were identified as two 16-year-old males. One of the teens charged, A.C., was the same individual who had sustained a leg injury during the incident. He faces charges of aggravated assault for discharging a firearm, pointing a firearm at another person, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The second suspect, a 16-year-old identified as L.C., was also taken into custody. He faces charges of aggravated assault by discharging a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm. At the time of the reports, neither of the teenagers had been charged directly with the killing of F.G. Following their arrests, A.C. was detained at the Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center, while L.C. was held at the Essex County Youth Detention Center. The investigation into the fatal shooting remains ongoing.
