On the evening of March 7, 2024, Moses Jalil Cyrano Green, a 22-year-old Black male, was found with a gunshot wound on the 400 block of 14th Avenue in the West Ward of Newark, New Jersey. The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported him to University Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force, in conjunction with the Newark Police Task Force, has taken charge
of the ongoing investigation into his death. The community in the West Ward, an area reportedly familiar with violence, has expressed frustration and a desire for justice. Authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspect or suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
