In the early hours of March 9, 2024, the life of 35-year-old Dashon Lee, a male resident of Vineland, New Jersey, was tragically cut short. Known affectionately by many as 'Banks,' 'Banko,' 'Trank,' and 'Blue Heff,' Lee was a man remembered for his infectious energy and warm smile. A graduate of Vineland Sr. High School's class of 2007, he was a proud father to two daughters and a beloved son and brother.
His loyalty to his family and friends was a cornerstone of his character, and he was a vocal supporter of the local music scene in Cumberland County.
The night he died, police were called to the Asselta Acres Apartments on Axtell Avenue in Vineland around 12:30 a.m. following a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Lee in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Lee's death quickly identified 31-year-old Angel A. Aguero as the primary suspect. Authorities launched a search for Aguero, who was considered armed and dangerous. The U.S. Marshals Service was involved in the manhunt, and the public was warned not to approach him. As the investigation progressed, two other men were implicated in the crime. Jamin Carney, 28, of Millville, and Chavez Mills, 26, of Vineland, were arrested and charged in connection with Lee's murder. Carney faced charges of murder and conspiracy, while Mills was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. After a manhunt, Angel A. Aguero turned himself in to authorities on March 22, 2024. He was charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses.
