On the evening of February 5, 2023, Chesapeake police responded to reports of gunfire near Broad Street and Acorn Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 19-year-old Jerome Emmanuel Odom deceased in the street from apparent gunshot wounds. Another man, also injured by gunfire, had fled the scene but was located and transported to a local hospital; his condition remains undisclosed.
