On February 9, 2023, at approximately 2:11 p.m., Richmond Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 300 block of East Broad Street in downtown Richmond, Virginia. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Carlton Jackson unresponsive on the sidewalk, suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult female victim was also found with gunshot injuries and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
