In the winter of 2023, the life of 29-year-old Matthew Jerome 'Matt' Brown, a Black male, was cut short in a burst of gunfire in Roanoke, Virginia. On the evening of February 15th, police responded to reports of a shooting on Ferncliff Avenue Northwest. There, they found Matthew Brown suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
