On March 30, 2023, 41-year-old John Clayton Carter was found unresponsive in his residence on North High Street in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Responding to a 9-1-1 call, Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) officers arrived at the scene where Carter was pronounced deceased. The following day, the Northern Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.
