In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Richmond, Virginia, tragedy befell Seymour Burton Jr., a 40-year-old man from the city. On April 16, 2023, at approximately 1:08 a.m., police responded to a call about a person down in the 2300 block of Redd Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Burton on a sidewalk, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his legs.
