On May 4, 2023, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Hampton Police responded to a reported shooting in the 2700 block of Jamestown Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 52-year-old Hampton resident Charles Edward McEachin Jr. deceased from gunshot wounds. Subsequent investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the 600 block of Celey Street, less than half a mile from where McEachin was found.
