In the summer of 2023, the life of 31-year-old Keith Alexander Wright was tragically cut short in Portsmouth, Virginia. On the evening of August 12th, events unfolded that led to Wright suffering a fatal gunshot wound. He was brought to a local hospital as a walk-in victim of the shooting, but unfortunately, the medical staff were unable to save him and he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident that led to his death took place in the Westbury neighborhood, specifically in the 1200 block of County Street.
The Portsmouth Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into Wright's death. Their inquiries led them to identify two individuals of interest in connection with the fatal shooting. One of these men, 32-year-old Deshawn Marque Wilkins, was located and taken into custody by detectives on the very same day as the incident. The investigation, however, was far from over as a second individual was also implicated in the crime.
Ten days after the shooting, authorities publicly identified 27-year-old Shawn Jamal Harmon, also known as 'Lil Shawn,' as another person of interest. As the investigation progressed, charges were brought against Harmon, which included second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Despite their efforts, law enforcement officials have been unable to locate Harmon, and he is still considered to be armed and dangerous. The search for him continues as the case remains an active investigation, leaving a community to mourn the loss of Keith Alexander Wright.
