On September 30, 2023, Martinsville police discovered the body of 47-year-old Antoine Jermaine Preston in his overturned pickup truck on Fayette Street in Martinsville, Virginia. The vehicle was found down a steep embankment and had been riddled with bullets.
The medical examiner determined that Preston's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the neck. Initially investigated as a vehicle crash, the incident was quickly reclassified as a homicide based on the evidence at the scene.
