On a Thursday afternoon, the 19th of October in 2023, the life of 15-year-old Terreyon Lammar-Lee Moore, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Norfolk, Virginia. The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Vernon Drive, where police responded to a report of a gunshot victim. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the young teen suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
He was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
For over a year, the investigation into the violent death of the teenager continued. Then, a significant breakthrough occurred in the case. Homicide detectives with the Norfolk Police Department identified a suspect, a 16-year-old male whose name has not been released due to his age. This individual was located and taken into custody in the state of California on October 28, 2024.
Following his arrest, the 16-year-old suspect was extradited back to Virginia on November 22, 2024, to face charges related to the shooting. He has been charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The teenage suspect is currently being held at the Norfolk Detention Center. Authorities have not yet released a motive or any other circumstances surrounding the incident that led to the untimely death of Terreyon Lammar-Lee Moore.
