In the quiet neighborhood of Canterbury Run in Newport News, Virginia, a tragedy unfolded that left neighbors in shock and sorrow. On the evening of November 6, 2023, police were called to the home of Matilda Georgeta Chirila, a 76-year-old woman, and her 75-year-old husband. Inside, they discovered the bodies of the couple, both having succumbed to single gunshot wounds in what was determined to be a murder-suicide.
