On December 26, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Newport News, Virginia, resulting in the death of Demario Jevon Mapp, a 38-year-old man from Hampton. The shooting took place in the early hours of the morning, just before 1:30 a.m., in the 1400 block of Saint Michaels Way.
