On April 9, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Charlottesville police officers responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of 12th Street and Rosser Avenue in the Venable neighborhood. Upon arrival, they found 31-year-old Deqwane Brown inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
