In the early hours of June 30, 2024, Chesapeake Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 500 block of Coveside Lane, near Interstate 64. Upon arrival, officers discovered 30-year-old Jeremiah Joseph Casarez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
