On March 2, 2023, 24-year-old Kyre Savon Washington was fatally shot on Reid Street in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Emergency responders transported him to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at 12:30 p.m.
