On April 23, 2023, 34-year-old Cyril Kendrell "KD" Lowery was fatally shot on Wix Road in Dillon, South Carolina. The Dillon Police Department identified George Michael Turner, 40, as a suspect in the case.

Following the incident, authorities initiated a search for Turner, seeking assistance from the public to ascertain his whereabouts. The investigation led to Turner's arrest on June 11, 2023, in Ector County, Texas, where he was taken into custody without incident.
