On June 11, 2023, 27-year-old Sonreah "Sonny" McCallum from Raeford, North Carolina, died following a shooting incident in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported accidental shooting at a residence on Coquina Avenue just before midnight on June 10. Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene for emergency medical services.
