On June 25, 2023, 19-year-old Jay'Vion Jaquez Mayrant was fatally shot in Columbia, South Carolina. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Indigo Springs Drive around 8 p.m., where they found Mayrant with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
