On August 29, 2023, in Sumter, South Carolina, 56-year-old Barry Lee Thompson was fatally shot following a dispute with his neighbor, 65-year-old Ronald Glenn Rodgers. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the backyard of a mutual neighbor's home on Arnaud Street, where both men had been socializing before an argument ensued.
