In the late hours of a Friday night in Lexington, South Carolina, the life of Dustin Chase Edward Northcutt, a 32-year-old Caucasian male, came to a violent and tragic end. On October 27, 2023, surveillance footage from a local business captured the harrowing final moments of his life. At approximately 11:45 p.m., Northcutt was seen running from an unidentified vehicle in the 200 block of Two Notch Road before he collapsed in a parking lot. His body was discovered by a deputy who had been dispatched for a welfare check in the area.

Upon arrival, the deputy found Northcutt on the ground, unconscious and not breathing, with a significant amount of blood on him. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. The area told a story of a frantic escape; one of his shoes was found near his body, while the other was located near a bullet shell casing in front of another building. Blood was scattered across different areas of the parking lot, indicating the struggle that had taken place. Northcutt's book bag was also recovered nearby in an area he was known to frequent.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department, in conjunction with the county coroner's office, launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. Despite canvassing the neighborhood and speaking with residents, authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case. No arrests have been made in connection with the death of Dustin Chase Edward Northcutt. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to seek information from the public that could lead to an arrest and bring closure to a case that cut a young man's life short.
