On November 23, 2023, Ty'Netrum J. Smoakes, a 34-year-old resident of Fairfax, South Carolina, was found fatally shot in Aiken, South Carolina. The incident occurred on Thanksgiving Day, when Aiken police discovered Smoakes inside a wrecked car.
