On February 18, 2024, 15-year-old Avery S. McDonald of Sellers, South Carolina, was fatally shot in the parking lot of Magnolia Mall in Florence. The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m., when two masked individuals approached McDonald's vehicle. An altercation ensued, during which McDonald was shot in the chest.
