In a case that initially appeared to be a self-inflicted tragedy, a deeper investigation by Florence, South Carolina police uncovered a homicide. On July 11, officers were called to a residence in the 800 block of Bradford Street where they found a male victim with a critical gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Early indications suggested the man had taken his own life.
However, a crucial piece of evidence was missing from the scene: the gun. This discrepancy prompted a more thorough investigation. An autopsy later confirmed the suspicions of law enforcement, revealing that the fatal shot had been fired from a distance of approximately two feet, making it unlikely to have been self-inflicted.
The focus of the investigation then shifted to finding a suspect. Authorities identified Kyzhier Daijon Andretti Williams of Florence as a person of interest. Williams was located and arrested on August 9. He has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. During the investigation, Williams reportedly admitted to hiding the firearm at a nearby home. When recovered by deputies, the weapon still had blood on it. In addition to the murder-related charges, Williams also faced a charge of possession of less than a gram of crack cocaine, which was allegedly found in a book bag alongside his wallet at the apartment where he had been staying for about two weeks prior to his arrest.
