In a tragic turn of events on April 19, 2024, 19-year-old Ashton Pugh and another teenager were found deceased inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Gates of Summerville apartment complex on Boone Hill Road in Summerville, South Carolina. The discovery prompted an immediate homicide investigation by the Summerville Police Department.
Responding to reports of a fight and gunshots the previous night, officers arrived at the apartment complex to find Pugh and 18-year-old Tyrell Epps
inside the car. Both had sustained fatal injuries, launching a search for those responsible for the double homicide. The community was left shaken by the violence, with some raising concerns about security at the apartment complex where the incident occurred.
As the investigation progressed, authorities made a series of arrests. By June 21, 2024, four individuals were in custody in connection with the killings. Zamauri Tyren Vashaun Brown, Travon Keith Wilson, and Khamari Lavon Sease were all charged with two counts of murder. Brown and Wilson faced an additional charge of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The investigation continued to yield results, and on July 12, 2024, a fifth suspect was arrested, also facing charges related to the double homicide.
