In the late summer of 2017, the quiet community of Summerville, South Carolina, was unsettled by the violent death of one of its own. Michael Waylon Goettsch, a 35-year-old white male, was found deceased in his Carmon Street home in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 5, 2017. The discovery, made at approximately 4:30 a.m., immediately prompted an intensive investigation by local authorities.
