On April 28, 2024, 23-year-old Rodney McKensey James Jr., known as "Hot-rod," was fatally shot outside Amici Tavern in Swansea, South Carolina. The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. following an argument between James and another man inside the bar, which escalated into the parking lot. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and observed a vehicle leaving the scene immediately afterward.
