On the morning of Friday, May 17, 2024, 36-year-old Katy Brooke Jones, a Caucasian female, arrived for her shift at NRTC Automation in Piedmont, South Carolina, just before 6:45 a.m. As she sat in her car in the company's parking lot, a former coworker, 33-year-old Derek Snyder, approached her vehicle and opened fire, shooting her multiple times before escaping the scene on foot.
