Douglas E. Gibbs, a 27-year-old officer with the San Francisco Police Department, tragically lost his life on September 26, 1977. Officer Gibbs was part of the police decoy unit and was involved in an operation to arrest a suspect for pickpocketing near the intersection of Jones Street and Golden Gate Avenue.
